Our motivation to enter the pet food industry was upon noticing all of the artificial ingredients, additives, and preservatives that are contained in many dog and cat treats. We also believe that New Zealand should produce its own pet food rather than relying on other countries to manufacture it for us.

When Rui’s two dogs got older, they lost interest in eating their regular food and began to lose weight. When Rui added fruit and vegetables, which are rich in protein and additive-free, the dogs returned to a healthy weight and they both lived a long life until they were 14 and 17 years old.

We know that dogs and cats are more than pets – they are a loved family member. We believe it is important to provide healthy and natural dog and cat treats with low-calories as well as other nutrients that are abundant in fruit and vegetables which many other pet treats do not contain.

Our treats are made from human-grade ingredients which are safe for dogs and cats to consume. Only fresh ingredients are used in our dog treats, wherever possible, with no preservatives, no additives, and no added salt or sugar. The resulting plant-based cookies are sustainable and environmentally friendly.

We were also shocked that more than 8 million tons of plastics end up in our oceans each year. As a result, Eco Treats is proud to use plastic-free packaging. Our tubes are made from paper packaging that can be reused and recycled. Our compostable interior bags are made from naturally occurring plant-based materials that can be composted.
